Newquay BID has funded several key activities to tidy up the town this month. The activities included removal of defunct or defaced posts, in a collaborative project with Newquay Town Council. Alongside removal of stickers and cleaning of various sign posts, which is ongoing and will see further works carried out. Finally, the removal of graffiti was actioned across the town.

The ‘Spring Clean’ project forms part of the BID’s objective to ensure Newquay offers a ‘welcoming town centre’. The BID Business Plan highlights street cleaning as one of the most important areas of concern for businesses. BID promotes Newquay as the ultimate beach and lifestyle destination in the UK, and providing a positive, bright and welcoming town for those who visit, live and work here is vital to continue to change perceptions, and build positive experiences of the town.

Alongside co-ordination and funding of the project, BID has also requested deep cleans on areas of the town, reported business concerns, and monitored town cleaning with Cornwall Council contractors. BID is working on the following projects this year to promote a brighter town centre; the installation of hanging baskets, alongside Newquay Town Council; providing funding for Newquay in Bloom projects; final phases and updates to the wayfinding signage and the installation of Love Newquay banners.

The town cleaning was actioned prior to the start of the peak season, and will continue to be monitored throughout the year. Any BID members can report concerns related to town cleaning and the street environment to the team in BID office: info@newquaybid.co.uk
